Senate Majority Leader Sanchez hospitalized again

Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez is back in the hospital, several Senate staffers confirmed to New Mexico Telegram.

Sanchez has a history of heart trouble and recently was hospitalized while he underwent an angioplasty. It was Sanchez’s second angioplasty.

Last summer, Sanchez, underwent an emergency procedure to stave off a heart attack.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Steve Terrell, Sanchez was taken for observation.

Others have characterized it as precautionary, but there is little fully known right now.

Last month, Sanchez missed a couple of days when he underwent an angioplasty. He missed the weekend, but the Senate was not meeting over the weekend at that time.

With the legislature getting closer to sine die, the Senate will be meeting this Saturday, both on the floor and in committees. Sanchez sites on the Senate Rules Committee which is expected to vote on the confirmation of Public Education Department secretary-designate Hanna Skandera.
