Report: House not hearing Senate bills according to Sanchez (updated)

Senate Minority Leader Michael Sanchez, D-Belen, brought public a simmering tension between the House and Senate.

Sanchez said, according to KRQE’s Alex Goldsmith, that House Appropriations and Finance Committee chairman Kiki Saavedra, D-Albuquerque, is boycotting hearing any Senate bills.

The typical tensions that exist between the House and Senate over legislation tends to increase as the pressure of time wears down on the members in the final days.

It is almost at tradition at this point, like hazing legislators while they present their first bill on the floor.

Legislators accuse the other chamber of holding their bills hostage and not giving them hearings — but in this case, it appears that it has been said outright.

Here are Goldsmith’s tweets:

The @0ccupyNewMexico Twitter account heard it differently.

Goldsmith promised an update durign the 10:00 am edition of KRQE’s newscast. New Mexico Telegram will update this piece as more comes in.

Update:

The KRQE story does not appear to be online (or is at least too difficult to find on the KRQE website).
