NM FOG shakeup: Schleder out, interim ED in

NM FOGThe New Mexico Foundation for Open Government went through another shakeup, as Terry Schleder is out as executive director, less than three months after he began the job.

Schleder joined the group after Gwyneth Doland* left to pursue journalism opportunities.

The interim Executive Director is Erin Muffoletto New Mexico Telegram has confirmed. It is also listed on her LinkedIn account. Schleder’s LinkedIn account has been deactivated.

The group is dedicated to open government in New Mexico and provides resources to those having trouble with public records and other open government issues.

Muffoletto is the co-host of The Morning Brew with Larry Ahrens and the state advocacy chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government has not announced Schleder’s exit or why he left, although Schleder was under fire even before he accepted the position.

Schleder was criticized by conservatives and Republican political operatives for his liberal political opinions. They circulated tweets and Facebook postings that Schleder had made, saying that he would be biased in his position.

Muffoletto worked in Secretary of State Dianna Duran’s office as Special Projects & Communications Coordinator. Duran is the first Republican to hold the Secretary of State position in decades. Muffoletto also worked as the personal assistant of Republican Representative Eric A. Youngberg.

  1. Juan Carlos Holmes says:

It’s worth noting that the Executive Board of FOG is fairly conservative, whereas Schleder is actually less liberal than some of his predecessors. It’s never been a problem before, so I doubt it would have been now… not that Schleder was there long enough for us to find out, but the one serious matter that has occurred during his tenure – the matter of the Martinez administration’s interesting closed-door decisions regarding the health audit – has been managed with apparent efficiency; that the administration came under the most fire isn’t exactly a partisan position when they were the ones at fault.

    Yeah.

Open government seems to be a liberal value in this state.

  3. High time Terry Schleder move on. He was nothing more than a political hack and had close ties to the Democrats and Leftist organizations. A quick read of my blogpost from July shows Mr. Schleder’s true colors. From Facebook posts rudely joking about his dog leaving dog poop for traditional marriage supporters and joking about a group of innocent kids as a “queer spawn” at a ABQ Gay Pride to picture of his son sporting an Obama T-shirt and posting nasty comments about numerous Republicans the guy was a total Leftist.

Hopefully New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (NMFOG) can move on and hire a more balanced and non-partisan executive director in the future.

New Mexico is so fortunate, F-Ball, that Terry Schleder, in your words, “a political hack with ties to the Democratic Party,” has been replaced, after a long search of about 15 min., by a political hack with direct ties to Gov. Martinez’s chief hatchetress, SOS Diana Duran. If that isn’t fair & balanced, then nothing is! Thanks for the levity of touting the ex-flack for one of the most secretive & deceptive members of Martinez’s corrupt TeaParty Dome administration, as a return to a “more balanced & non-partisan NMFOG executive director!” Hilarious!
